HP 85B

History

Hewlett-Packard announced its first personal computer, the HP 85, in 1980. The HP 85 was a completely integrated system, which included keyboard, CRT, thermal printer, and cartridge tape drive.

The HP 85 weighed about 20 pounds and included keyboard, CRT, tape unit and came with HP BASIC. It could handle up to 14 peripheral devices.

The HP 85 came with 16K RAM expandable to 32K, 32K ROM expandable to 80K ROM, and could use a variety of business software including math, finance, statistics and regression analysis, linear programming, text editing, waveform analysis, circuit analysis and games. (1980)

Other models included the HP 86 and 87.
